Challenge #3

Create a wish list of fandom things (podfic, graphics, playlists, canon recs translations, research help, vids, sky's the limit!) that you'd like to receive.

I really miss kinkmemes! Last year I discovered the Due South / Canadian 6 Degrees Prompt Meme on AO3-- I didn't even know AO3 HAD prompt memes before that. So my wish list is any of the prompts I left there, which are the six most recent ones, and the only ones from this decade, lol. Some are silly so I'll put the two ones I want the most here:


ballet dancer Kowalski AU

I'd like a sweet AU story where RayK and Stella, in their youth, took up ballet together. They never married, but instead are incredibly intense BFFs that ended up dancing at the Chicago Ballet.

Vecchio doesn't have to go undercover, so Benton can be in Chicago a long time before the story takes place, if you're so inclined. A case takes them to the ballet for some reason and Benton falls for RayK. Bonus points if this is Benton's gay awakening.

RayK still has his gutterpunk attitude, which gives him an edge as a ballet dancer, and Ben finds him absolutely fascinating. Vecchio is flabbergasted by the whole thing.


Kowalski ego/id split

Inspired by the Buffy episode with the two Xanders.

This is post COTW or some divergent AU where Vecchio and Kowalski are both working at the 27, and liaising with Fraser. Nobody is paired off yet.

Some supernatural mumbo jumbo happens to Kowalski and he gets essentially split in two. The Ego-RayK is the confident, flirty, graceful version, while the Id-Ray (I'll call him Stan) is the volatile, emotional, hi-low version. They figure out what happened pretty quick and Ego-Ray makes an executive decision to keep Stan locked up at home while Ego-Ray continues to work. Nobody else knows that this has happened to him.

Ray and Stan actually prefer this once they get over the trauma. Ray doesn't have to argue with himself to get anything done or motivate. He doesn't have to constantly keep a lid on his emotions around others, or berate himself after every mistake. Ego-Ray can go to work, successfully flirt with women, and not punch any walls, while Stan gets to stay home and masturbate, eat junk food, and listen to records all day. When they argue, it's out loud and it's like arguing with another person. When they're apart, everything is just so much quieter and easier! It's actually easier for Ray to be nice to himself when he's split in two like this.

The only catch is that while Stan got all the emotional volatility, he also got the instinct. Ego-Ray isn't quite connecting the dots on cases the way he used to, unless he can call Stan at home and run it by him.

Stan is also very bored and very lonely, but as he's just a big ball of embarrassing childish Id needs-- the kind of needs that drove Stella away-- Ego-Ray figures he can't be seen in public.

Unbeknownst to Ray, their secret is not so secret. Vecchio noticed a difference at work almost immediately. Here's Ray suddenly being calm and not punching walls and not being an annoying little snot, but also not being as good a detective. Vecchio and Kowalski are not friendly yet, and Fraser hasn't been at the precinct since the split happened. So Vecchio calls Fraser to tell him Kowalski is acting weird.

That leads Fraser to going to Kowalski's apartment while Ego-Ray is out, and finding Stan there alone. Big ball of childish Id needs as he is, Stan immediately jumps Fraser's bones.

After that, Fraser has to figure out if he can get the Kowalskis back together, or how to deal with it if it's too late. Up to you if they stay split or not. Also up to you if Fraser gets his hands full with two Kowalskis, or if Vecchio gets involved and they each get half a Ray.

Hello, I'm VivaRocksteady! I have been in fandom for over twenty years, so we may have crossed paths in the LiveJournal days when I was under a different name (it was very close to my IRL name, because I was young and foolish!) My most active fandoms back then were Andromeda, various small film fandoms, and Star Trek 2009.

I write fanfic and consume fanfic and fanart. I'm on tumblr, discord, and pillowfort (although I've sort of abandoned pillowfort, it wasn't really delivering on what it promised.) I'm looking for communities with conversation!

If I'm "known" for anything in fandom, it's for these fics:

I'm interpreting this kind of loosely and posting some moodboard-type images I made for Due South characters. And two OCs (in the Due South universe), it would be interesting to see if anyone picks up any impressions of them from the pics.

I love your mood boards! I'm only a causal DS fan, so the OC boards aren't as meaningful to me but I love your colors and picture! Nicely done!
