I’ve always really enjoyed the What Up With That sketches, which have been on SNL for like ten years, and are always almost exactly the same. To me, they are always 100% delightful.
This What Up With That AT HOME sketch is, in my opinion, the first great piece of art to come out of the pandemic. The already brilliant format of the sketch has been ABSOLUTELY ELEVATED by the constrains of quarantine. Just. Every part of it is pure absurd comedy gold. The Zoom windows scrolling around. The graphics somehow being OUTSIDE the Zoom windows. The jumpsuit guy jumping BETWEEN Zoom windows??? I am dead, this sketch has killed me.
The YouTube is geo-locked to the States because EVERY good SNL sketch is geo-locked, but if you’re in Canada, its also on the Global website for the time being!

Date: 2023-06-22 02:58 pm (UTC)Thank you for posting this SNL skit! I've never seen any of these before, and it feels like a perfect piece of internet history already. Great ear-worm (or terrible, depending on your POV,) and exactly as silly as I hoped. Bonus Fred Armisen pretending to play the Saxophone on the side. I see him everywhere these days; he surely does get a lot of work, even if they're small parts. (also my irl name is similar to Deondré, which is funny because I'm just a white gal.)
be well!

Date: 2023-06-22 05:25 pm (UTC)Literally, every edition is exactly the same (complete with Armisen on sax) but also different in their own bonkers way. I think they're all on YouTube. The problem is that they list them by guest, when it's not the guests you remember, it's the crazy shit happening on the side.
The one I laughed hardest at was when their second surprise act (the Hot Wheels kid in this version) was Baby Jessica and her well. They wheeled out a prop well and a girl danced out of it and I fucking lost it. I have no idea how to find that one, though, because who knows who the guests were!
